US-Justiz klagt Hamas-Chef Sinwar und weitere Anführer an
Die US-Justiz hat mehrere Anführer der islamistischen Palästinenserorganisation Hamas wegen "Terrorismus" und weiterer Vorwürfe angeklagt. Wie aus am Dienstag (Ortszeit) nach monatelanger Geheimhaltung freigegebenen Dokumenten hervorgeht, erhob das US-Justizministerium Anfang Februar Anklage gegen sechs Hamas-Anführer wegen des Überfalls der islamistischen Palästinensergruppe auf Israel am 7. Oktober. Darunter ist Hamas-Chef Jahja Sinwar und dessen inzwischen getöteter Vorgänger Ismail Hanija.
Heil: Keine Bürgergelderhöhung zum Jahreswechsel
Die Höhe des Bürgergeldes bleibt laut Bundessozialminister Hubertus Heil (SPD) über den Jahreswechsel unverändert. "Gott sei Dank ist die Inflation kräftig zurückgegangen, im letzten Monat nur 1,9 Prozent", sagte Heil am Mittwoch in der RTL/ntv-Sendung "Frühstart". "Und deshalb ist das, was die Zahlen hergeben und der Rechtsmechanismus, so, dass es zum 1. Januar keine Bürgergelderhöhung gibt."
Regierungsumbildung in der Ukraine: Mehrere Minister treten zurück
In der Ukraine steht eine größere Regierungsumbildung an. Mindestens sechs Regierungsvertreter, darunter auch Kabinettsmitglieder, reichten nach Angaben der Regierungspartei Diener des Volkes vom Dienstagabend ihren Rücktritt ein. "Wie versprochen, ist in dieser Woche ein großer Regierungsumbau zu erwarten", erklärte der Fraktionschef der Partei von Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj, David Arachamia, am Dienstag im Onlinedienst Telegram. Demnach sollen "mehr als 50 Prozent" der Regierungsmitglieder ausgetauscht werden.

Die Bundesregierung will einem Bericht zufolge den Bau von Groß-Wärmepumpen zur Fernwärmeversorgung beschleunigen. Wie die "Augsburger Allgemeine" berichtet, soll bereits am Mittwoch im Bundeskabinett ein entsprechender Entwurf aus dem Wirtschaftsministerium von Robert Habeck (Grüne) beschlossen werden. Mit dem Gesetzesvorhaben soll demnach zu diesem Zweck die Errichtung von Wärmepumpen, die mit Erdwärme, See-, Fluss- oder Abwasser laufen, zum überragenden öffentlichen Interesse erklärt werden.
Pistorius empfängt ukrainischen Verteidigungsminister Umerow zu Antrittsbesuch in Berlin
Der ukrainische Verteidigungsminister Rustem Umerow ist am Mittwoch zu seinem Antrittsbesuch in Berlin zu Gast bei Bundesverteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (SPD). China will bei Gipfeltreffen in Peking Einfluss in Afrika ausbauen

Frankreichs Ex-Premier Philippe will für Präsidentschaftswahl 2027 kandidieren
Inmitten zäher Gespräche um die Bildung einer neuen Regierung in Frankreich hat Ex-Premierminister Edouard Philippe seine Kandidatur für die Präsidentschaftswahl 2027 angekündigt. Der 53-jährige, der von 2017 bis 2020 unter Präsident Emmanuel Macron amtiert hatte, gab seine Entscheidung in einem am Dienstagabend veröffentlichten mit dem Magazin "Le Point" bekannt. USA und EU kritisieren Haftbefehl für Maduro-Kontrahenten in Venezuela
Der in Venezuela erlassene Haftbefehl gegen den untergetauchten Oppositionspolitiker Edmundo González Urrutia hat in Washington und Brüssel scharfen Protest ausgelöst. Die Europäische Union bedauere, "dass die Mongolei den Haftbefehl nicht vollstreckt hat und damit ihren Verpflichtungen nicht nachgekommen ist", erklärte der Sprecher des EU-Außenbeauftragten Josep Borrell, Peter Stano, am Dienstag in Brüssel. Schmerzensgeld nach angeblichen Impfschäden: Weiterer Kläger scheitert vor Gericht
Vor dem Landgericht Offenburg ist ein 35-Jähriger in einem weiteren Prozess um ein hohes Schmerzensgeld wegen angeblicher Gesundheitsschäden nach einer Coronaimpfung gescheitert. Eine mögliche Haftung des Herstellers sei laut Gesetz an bestimmte Voraussetzungen geknüpft, die hier nicht erfüllt seien, erklärte das Gericht in der baden-württembergischen Stadt. Prozess gegen IS-Rückkehrerin in Celle: Gericht verhängt Bewährungsstrafe

Bundesgerichtshof bestätigt Haft wegen geplanten islamistischen Giftanschlags
Wegen der Planung und Vorbereitung eines Anschlags mit Gift muss der Iraner Jalal J. aus Castrop-Rauxel für vier Jahre ins Gefängnis. Mit einem am Dienstag bekanntgegebenen Beschluss bestätigte der Bundesgerichtshof (BGH) ein entsprechendes Urteil des Landgerichts Dortmund vom November. Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin ist ungeachtet des gegen ihn vorliegenden Haftbefehls des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofs (IStGH) mit großem Pomp in der Mongolei empfangen worden. Bei der Zeremonie auf dem mit riesigen russischen und mongolischen Fahnen bedeckten zentralen Platz der Hauptstadt Ulan Bator boten die Gastgeber am Dienstag unter anderem Soldaten in traditionellen Uniformen und zu Pferde auf. Es war der erste Besuch Putins in einem IStGH-Mitgliedsland seit Erlass des Haftbefehls gegen ihn im März 2023.
Selenskyj: 41 Tote und 180 Verletzte bei russischem Angriff im ukrainischen Poltawa
Bei russischen Angriffen auf die zentralukrainische Stadt Poltawa sind nach ukrainischen Angaben mindestens 41 Menschen getötet worden. Mehr als 180 weitere Menschen seien verletzt worden, teilte der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj am Dienstag mit. Das Ziel des Angriffs war offenbar ein militärisches Ausbildungszentrum in der Stadt - nach Angaben von Selenskyj wurden jedoch "eine Bildungseinrichtung und ein benachbartes Krankenhaus" in Poltawa von zwei Raketen getroffen.
