In der Türkei ist erneut Haftbefehl gegen den deutschen Journalisten Deniz Yücel erlassen worden. Ein Gericht in Istanbul traf die Entscheidung gegen den bereits von 2017 bis 2018 inhaftierten Yücel am Donnerstag, wie die Schriftstellervereinigung PEN Berlin und Yücels Arbeitgeber, die Zeitung "Welt", übereinstimmend mitteilten. FDP hält Verabschiedung von Heizungsgesetz vor Sommerpause für "ausgeschlossen"

Das Kabinett hat die nötige Gesetzesänderung für den beschleunigten Bau eines LNG-Terminals im Hafen Mukran auf der Ostseeinsel Rügen beschlossen. Damit werde ein Standort an der Ostseeküste in das LNG-Beschleunigungsgesetz aufgenommen, teilte das Bundeswirtschaftsministerium am Mittwochabend mit. "Natürlich" müssten die zuständigen Landesbehörden die konkreten Planungsunterlagen im Rahmen der Genehmigungsverfahren noch "umfassend prüfen".

Das US-Verteidigungsministerium hat Schäden an einem an die Ukraine gelieferten Flugabwehrsystem vom Typ Patriot nach russischem Beschuss eingeräumt. Das hochmoderne Flugabwehrsystem bleibe jedoch "einsatzbereit", erklärte ein Pentagon-Vertreter am Mittwoch gegenüber der Nachrichtenagentur AFP. Der durch ein nicht näher benanntes Geschoss verursachte Schaden werde derzeit untersucht. Zuvor hatte der Sprecher der ukrainischen Luftwaffe, Juri Ignat, gegenüber AFP gesagt, alles sei "in Ordnung" und das Patriot-System in Betrieb - ohne jedoch Angaben zu möglichen Schäden zu machen.

"Mieter und Vermieter müssen dringend den Eigentümern von privat genutztem Wohnraum gleichgestellt werden", erklärte Axel Gedaschko, Präsident des Spitzenverbandes der Wohnungswirtschaft GdW, am Mittwoch. Gemeinsam mit dem Deutschen Mieterbund stellte der GdW ein entsprechendes Positionspapier vor.

Der Hauptgeschäftsführer des Arbeitgeberverbands BDA, Steffen Kampeter, hat vor wirtschaftlichen Nachteilen bei Einführung einer Vier-Tage-Woche samt Lohnausgleich gewarnt. "In Deutschland haben wir im Trend sinkende Arbeitszeiten, aber keinen explosionsartigen Produktivitätsanstieg", sagte Kampeter am Mittwoch im ZDF-"Morgenmagazin". Deswegen werde die Einführung einer Vier-Tage-Woche samt Lohnausgleich "zu wirtschaftlichen Nachteilen" führen.

Die Zahl der Baugenehmigungen für Wohnungen befindet sich weiterhin im Sinkflug: Nach Angaben des Statistischen Bundesamts wurden im März 24.500 neue Wohnungen genehmigt, das waren 29,6 Prozent weniger als vor einem Jahr. Seit Jahresbeginn gingen die Genehmigungen jeweils jeden Monat um über 20 Prozent zurück. Einen stärkeren Rückgang als zuletzt gab es demnach im März 2007 mit minus 46,5 Prozent verglichen mit März 2006.
EVG hält in Tarifgesprächen an Forderungen fest und setzt notfalls auf Streik
Vor der Fortsetzung der Tarifgespräche mit der Bahn an diesem Mittwoch hat die Gewerkschaft EVG ihre Forderungen sowie ihre Streikbereitschaft bei einem Scheitern der Verhandlungen bekräftigt. Ebay: Deutlich mehr private Verkäufer nach Wegfall von Gebühren
Auf der Online-Auktionsplattform Ebay.de bieten wieder vermehrt private Verkäuferinnen und Verkäufer Waren zum Verkauf an, seitdem die Verkaufsgebühr dafür abgeschafft wurde. Die Europäische Union schiebt dem Betrug mit Kryptowährungen einen Riegel vor. Die EU-Finanzminister billigten am Dienstag in Brüssel abschließend einen ersten Rechtsrahmen für die digitalen Zahlungssysteme. Airlines befürchten Streiks während der Sommersaison
Europäische Fluggesellschaften haben vor Streikwellen und massiven Beeinträchtigungen des Flugverkehrs während der Sommersaison gewarnt. "Mit dem Beginn der Sommersaison ist die Gefahr groß, dass Streiks die Reisepläne von Millionen von Fluggästen zunichte machen", erklärte der Airline-Verbund A4E am Dienstag. Von der EU-Kommission forderte er Maßnahmen, um die Beeinträchtigungen zu minimieren.

In der deutschen Süßwarenindustrie stehen die Zeichen auf Streik: Die Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststätten (NGG) erklärte die Tarifverhandlungen am Montagabend für vorerst beendet und rief die Beschäftigten für Juni zu flächendeckenden Warnstreiks auf. Beim britischen Telekommunikationskonzern Vodafone sollen in den kommenden drei Jahren 11.000 Jobs wegfallen. "Unsere Performance war nicht gut genug", sagte die neue Unternehmenschefin Margherita Della Valle am Dienstag. Damit das Unternehmen weiterhin "liefern" könne, müsse es sich "verändern". Damit baut Vodafone gut zehn Prozent der Belegschaft ab - im vergangenen Jahr arbeiteten 104.000 Beschäftigte für das Unternehmen.

Anlässlich des zehnjährigen Bestehens des "Fonds Sexueller Missbrauch" (FSM) hat Bundesfamilienministerin Lisa Paus (Grüne) die Notwendigkeit eines konsequenten Eintretens gegen sexualisierte Gewalt hervorgehoben. "Unsere Verantwortung ist es, konsequent gegen sexuelle Gewalt vorzugehen, umfassende Prävention zu betreiben und vor allem den Betroffenen wirksam zu helfen", erklärte Paus am Dienstag in Berlin. Mit dem FSM stelle der Bund dafür seit 2013 "ein einzigartiges Hilfesystem zur Verfügung".

Frankreich will den Bau der von Präsident Emmanuel Macron angekündigten, neuen Atomreaktoren beschleunigen. Die Nationalversammlung soll am späten Dienstagnachmittag endgültig über ein Gesetz abstimmen, das den Abbau bürokratischer Hürden für die neuen Reaktoren vorsieht. Sie sollen in der Nähe bereits bestehender Atomkraftwerke gebaut werden. Dafür sollen die Genehmigungsverfahren abgekürzt werden. Es wird damit gerechnet, dass es dafür eine Mehrheit gibt.
Böckler-Stiftung: Wirksamkeit des Entgelttransparenzgesetzes noch immer gering
Das Entgelttransparenzgesetz gilt seit Anfang 2018 und soll es vor allem Frauen ermöglichen, eine mögliche Diskriminierung geltend zu machen. Zwar nutzten zwischen 2019 und 2021 mehr Beschäftigte in Betrieben ihr Recht auf Auskunft als kurz nach Inkrafttreten des Gesetzes, wie die Hans-Böckler-Stiftung am Dienstag mitteilte. Allerdings sei die Wirkung des Gesetzes nach wie vor gering.

Der Vorstand habe die bisherige zweite Vorsitzende für das Amt der ersten Vorsitzenden nominiert, teilte die Gewerkschaft am Dienstag mit. Amtsinhaber Jörg Hofmann wird demnach wie auch drei weitere geschäftsführende Vorstandsmitglieder nicht mehr zur Wahl antreten.
Lindner lehnt EU-Pläne bei Bankpleiten ab
Bundesfinanzminister Christian Lindner (FDP) lehnt EU-Pläne für ein gemeinsames Schutzsystem bei Bankenpleiten ab. Die Vorschläge der Europäischen Kommission von Mitte April seien "nicht zustimmungsfähig", sagte Lindner am Dienstag vor Beratungen mit seinen EU-Kollegen in Brüssel. Er verwies auf die funktionierende deutsche Einlagensicherung von Sparkassen oder genossenschaftlichen Instituten, die "erhalten bleiben" müsse. "Das ist jetzt im Vorschlag der Kommission so nicht mehr gegeben", betonte Lindner.
Positiver Trend bei Erwerbstätigkeit setzt sich im ersten Quartal fort
Die positive Entwicklung der Erwerbstätigkeit auf dem deutschen Arbeitsmarkt hat sich auch zu Jahresbeginn fortgesetzt. Nach Angaben des Statistischen Bundesamts in Wiesbaden waren im ersten Quartal hierzulande 45,6 Millionen Menschen erwerbstätig, das waren saisonbereinigt 150.000 oder 0,3 Prozent mehr als im Vorquartal. Nicht saisonbereinigt gab es einen Rückgang, dieser ist in den ersten Monaten des Jahres aber üblich.

Im Betrugsprozess um den Dieselskandal bei Volkswagen hat sich der frühere Unternehmenschef der Konzerntochter Audi, Rupert Stadler, schuldig bekannt. Er habe es im Verlauf des Skandals unterlassen, Vertragspartner zu informieren, ließ Stadler am Dienstag von seiner Anwältin Ulrike Thole-Groll mitteilen. Er habe so zugelassen, dass mit unzulässiger Software ausgestattete Fahrzeuge in den Verkauf gekommen seien.
Iglu-Studie: Leseleistungen deutscher Viertklässler gesunken
Die Leseleistungen deutscher Viertklässler haben sich einer Studie zufolge in den vergangenen Jahren verschlechtert. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler erreichten eine mittlere Lesekompetenz von 524 Punkten und liegen im internationalen Vergleich weiterhin im Mittelfeld, wie aus der am Dienstag in Berlin veröffentlichten Internationalen Grundschul-Lese-Untersuchung (Iglu) 2021 hervorgeht. Seit der vorherigen Studie im Jahr 2016, als 537 Punkte erreicht worden seien, sei die mittlere Lesekompetenz der deutschen Viertklässler deutlich gesunken.

In den Familien in Deutschland wächst der Anteil von Vätern, die als Alleinerziehende mit ihren minderjährigen Kindern leben. 15 Prozent der Alleinerziehenden waren im Jahr 2022 Väter, wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Dienstag anlässlich des Vatertags am Donnerstag mitteilte. Zehn Jahre zuvor hatte der Wert nur bei zehn Prozent gelegen.

Die Telekom hat einen massiven Ausbau des Mobilfunknetzes entlang deutscher Autobahnen zugesagt. "Ziel ist es, die Surf-Geschwindigkeit deutlich zu steigern und die Anzahl der Gesprächsabbrüche zu minimieren", erklärte das Bonner Unternehmen am Dienstag. "Dafür wird die Telekom rund 400 zusätzliche Mobilfunkstandorte entlang des 13.000 Kilometer langen Autobahnnetzes bauen."
