Behinderungen von Betriebsratswahlen und Neugründungen von Betriebsräten sind offenbar keine Einzelfälle: Das Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Institut (WSI) der Hans-Böckler-Stiftung befragte Gewerkschafter und Gewerkschafterinnen aus 131 regionalen Organisationen verschiedener Arbeitnehmervertretungen zur Abhaltung von Betriebsratswahlen und veröffentlichte am Donnerstag die Ergebnisse. Das WSI betonte, dass die Zahlen nicht repräsentativ für bundesweite Betriebsratswahlen seien, sie lieferten aber die "derzeit beste Annäherung an das Problem".
Erzeugerpreise für landwirtschaftliche Produkte steigen im Jahresvergleich
Die Preise, die Landwirtinnen und Landwirte für ihre Erzeugnisse bekommen, sind im Jahresvergleich erneut angestiegen, verglichen mit dem Vormonat gingen sie allerdings zurück. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Donnerstag mitteilte, waren die Preise im Juli im Jahresvergleich 1,7 Prozent höher, im Vergleich zum Juni aber 0,7 Prozent niedriger. In den beiden Monaten zuvor war der Preisanstieg im Jahresvergleich mit jeweils über drei Prozent deutlicher ausgefallen.
Kampf gegen Schmuggel: Ghana erhöht Kakaopreise um 45 Prozent
Im Kampf gegen den wachsenden Schmuggel und zur Stärkung der Bauern erhöht die Regierung in Ghana den Kakaopreis um fast die Hälfte. Der den Produzenten garantierte Abnahmepreis betrage in der diesjährigen Erntesaison für einen 64-Kilogramm-Sack mit Kakaobohnen 192 Dollar (etwa 174 Euro), teilte das Landwirtschaftsministerium am Mittwoch mit. Das ist ein Anstieg um 45 Prozent. Ghana ist der zweitgrößte Kakaoproduzent der Welt.
Ifo: Beschäftigte verbringen 17 Prozent der Arbeitszeit im Homeoffice
Die Beschäftigten in Deutschland verbringen laut einer Unternehmensumfrage des Ifo-Instituts im Schnitt 17 Prozent ihrer Arbeitszeit im Homeoffice. In Großunternehmen liegt der Anteil bei 20 Prozent, in kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen bei 15 Prozent, wie das Ifo am Donnerstag mitteilte. Auch je nach Branche gibt es große Unterschiede.
ADAC-Raststätten-Test: 20 von 40 Anlagen mit "gut" bewertet
Der ADAC hat erneut Raststätten entlang der deutschen Autobahnen getestet - 20 der 40 Anlagen im Test wurden mit "gut" bewertet, sechs Anlagen fielen durch, wie der Automobilclub am Donnerstag mitteilte. Die Tester prüften die Raststätten demnach in fünf Kategorien - bei den Preisen in der Gastronomie erhielten zwei Drittel der Anlagen die Wertung "günstig" oder "sehr günstig". Die Tankstellenshops auf den Rastanlagen stuften die Tester dagegen zu 75 Prozent als "teuer" oder "sehr teuer" ein.
"Spiegel": Deutsche-Bahn-Tochter Schenker soll an dänische DSV gehen
Der Verkauf der profitablen Logistiktochter der Deutschen Bahn, Schenker, ist laut einem Bericht des "Spiegel" besiegelt. Das Unternehmen solle an den dänischen Logistikkonzern DSV gehen, dieser zahle offenbar 14 Milliarden Euro, berichtete der "Spiegel" am Mittwochabend. DSV, die Deutsche Bahn und deren Eigentümer, der Bund, handeln demnach derzeit einen Vorvertrag aus. Am Freitag könnte der Vertrag offiziell verkündet werden.
Europäische Zentralbank entscheidet über Leitzinsen
Nach der Sommerpause trifft sich der Rat der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) am Donnerstag in Frankfurt am Main wieder, um über die Geldpolitik im Euroraum zu beraten. Beobachterinnen und Beobachter erwarten eine Senkung, nachdem die Leitzinsen beim vergangenen Treffen im Juli unverändert geblieben waren (Bekanntgabe 14.15 Uhr). IG Metall: Erste Tarifverhandlungen in Metall- und Elektroindustrie ohne Ergebnis
Die ersten Tarifverhandlungen für die Metall- und Elektroindustrie sind weitgehend ergebnislos geblieben. Die ersten Gespräche für die rund 69.000 Beschäftigten des Sektors in Sachsen hätten keine Annäherung gebracht, erklärte der zuständige IG-Metall-Bezirksleiter Dirk Schulze am Mittwoch. Der bayerische IG-Metall-Chef Horst Ott verteidigte die Lohnforderung von sieben Prozent. Der Arbeitgeberverband Berlin-Brandenburg verwies auf die "sehr schwierige Lage der Branche".
EU importiert wieder mehr Gas aus Russland
Ungeachtet des Ukraine-Kriegs importiert die Europäische Union immer noch fast ein Fünftel ihres Erdgases aus Russland. Im Vergleich zum vergangenen Jahr stiegen die Einfuhren sogar wieder, wie ein am Mittwoch in Brüssel veröffentlichter Energiebericht der EU-Kommission zeigt. Für die Slowakei, Ungarn und Österreich bleibt Russland der größte Lieferant.

Die Verbraucherzentrale Rheinland-Pfalz hat vor verlockend wirkenden Angeboten von Online-Händlern aus Asien gewarnt. Diese drängten vor allem im Textilbereich mit "unschlagbaren Preisen" auf den deutschen Markt, "allerdings ist die Schnäppchenware oft von mangelnder Qualität", erklärten die Verbraucherschützer am Mittwoch in Mainz. Das russische Finanzunternehmen NSD steht nach einem Gerichtsurteil zu Recht auf der Sanktionsliste gegen Russland. Das Gericht der Europäischen Union bestätigte die restriktiven Maßnahmen am Mittwoch in Luxemburg. Immer mehr Unternehmen in Deutschland müssen auf ausstehende Zahlungen warten. Wie der französische Kreditversicherer Coface mit Niederlassung in Mainz am Mittwoch mitteilte, berichteten in diesem Jahr 78 Prozent der befragten Firmen von Zahlungsverzögerungen. Das waren zwei Prozentpunkte mehr als im Vorjahr und deutlich mehr als während der Pandemie. Lange überfällige Zahlungen können demnach zu einem Geschäftsrisiko werden.
Auch IW erwartet Stagnation - Dienstleistungssektor verhindert schlimmeres
Auch das Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft (IW) geht von einer konjunkturellen Stagnation im laufenden Jahr aus. "Das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt wird in Deutschland im Jahr 2024 allenfalls das Vorjahresvolumen erreichen", erklärten die Forschenden in Köln am Mittwoch. Zahl der Firmenpleiten im ersten Halbjahr knapp 25 Prozent höher als im Vorjahr
In Deutschland sind in den ersten sechs Monaten des laufenden Jahres deutlich mehr Firmen pleitegegangen als im ersten Halbjahr des Vorjahres. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Mittwoch mitteilte, beantragten zwischen Januar und Ende Juni 2024 rund 10.700 Unternehmen eine Insolvenz - das waren 24,9 Prozent mehr als im gleichen Zeitraum 2023. Angetrieben von Gästen aus dem Ausland hat der Tourismus in Deutschland im Sommermonat Juli zugelegt. Insgesamt verbuchten die Beherbergungsbetriebe 57,5 Millionen Übernachtungen von Gästen aus dem In- und Ausland, das waren 1,0 Prozent mehr als ein Jahr zuvor, wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Mittwoch mitteilte.

Studie zu Methanausstoß: Chinas Kohleproduktion bedroht Klimaziele des Landes
Mit seinen Plänen für einen weiteren Ausbau der Kohleproduktion gefährdet China einer Studie zufolge seine eigenen Klimaziele. Hintergrund ist, dass bei der Förderung von Kohle große Mengen an Methan freigesetzt werden, wie Experten der US-Organisation Global Energy Monitor (GEM) am Dienstag mitteilten. China förderte im vergangenen Jahr 4,7 Milliarden Tonnen Kohle - die Hälfte der weltweiten Produktion.
