EuGH: Bei Verstoß gegen Russland-Maßnahme darf Erlös eingezogen werden
Wenn ein Unternehmen in der Europäischen Union ein Geschäft für militärische Güter vermittelt, bei dem eine Firma aus Russland beteiligt ist, darf der gesamte Erlös eingezogen werden. Das entschied der Europäische Gerichtshof (EuGH) in Luxemburg am Dienstag in einem bereits fünf Jahre alten Fall aus Rumänien. Inflation im August erstmals seit drei Jahren wieder unter zwei Prozent
Erstmals seit über drei Jahren ist die Inflationsrate in Deutschland wieder unter zwei Prozent gesunken. Das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden bestätigte am Dienstag erste Schätzungen, wonach die Inflation im August 1,9 Prozent im Jahresvergleich betrug. "Es mehren sich die Anzeichen, dass die Inflation in Deutschland endgültig besiegt ist", erklärte der wissenschaftliche Direktor des Instituts für Makroökonomie und Konjunkturforschung der Hans-Böckler-Stiftung, Sebastian Dullien.
Sterbefälle im August auf Niveau der Vorjahre
Die Zahl der Sterbefälle in Deutschland hat sich im August etwa auf dem Niveau der Vorjahre bewegt. Nach Angaben des Statistischen Bundesamts in Wiesbaden vom Dienstag starben im August nach einer Hochrechnung bundesweit 79.975 Menschen. Die Zahl liege mit einem leichten Plus von zwei Prozent insgesamt im Bereich des mittleren Werts der Vorjahresmonate.
SpaceX-Rakete hebt für ersten privaten Weltraumspaziergang ab
Nach mehrmaligen Aufschub hat das US-Raumfahrtunternehmen SpaceX seine Mission "Polaris Dawn" gestartet, in deren Verlauf der bislang erste privat finanzierte Weltraumspaziergang stattfinden soll. Die Rakete mit der Dragon-Kapsel sei am Dienstag abgehoben, teilte das Unternehmen im Onlinedienst X mit. Während der sechstägigen Mission sollen sich die vier Raumfahrer in der Kapsel bis zu 1400 Kilometer von der Erde entfernen - so weit wie kein Astronaut seit den Apollo-Mondmissionen.
IfW Kiel: Ausgaben der Bundesregierung für Verteidigung "völlig unzureichend"
Die Ausgaben der Bundesregierung für die Verteidigung sind laut Forschenden angesichts der Bedrohungslage durch Russland "völlig unzureichend". "Trotz Zeitenwende-Rhetorik vergrößert sich der Abstand zwischen den militärischen Fähigkeiten Deutschlands und Russlands weiter", erklärte das Institut für Weltwirtschaft in Kiel am Dienstag. Die Forschenden forderten dauerhaft ein Verteidigungsbudget von mindestens 100 Milliarden Euro.
Chinas Exporte im August kräftig gewachsen - Importe legen nur gering zu
Chinas Exporte sind im August den fünften Monat in Folge gestiegen, und das kräftiger als in den Vormonaten. Die Ausfuhren legten im Vorjahresvergleich um 8,7 Prozent zu, wie der chinesische Zoll am Dienstag mitteilte. Die Importe der zweitgrößten Volkswirtschaft der Welt dagegen nahmen nur um 0,5 Prozent zu und blieben damit unter den Erwartungen. Im Juli hatten die Einfuhren noch um über sieben Prozent zugelegt.
EuGH: Apple muss Steuern in Milliardenhöhe nachzahlen
Apple hat in Irland jahrelang zu Unrecht von Steuervergünstigungen profitiert und muss nach einem neuen Urteil des Europäischen Gerichtshofs (EuGH) nun eine hohe Summe nachzahlen. Der EuGH bestätigte am Dienstag in Luxemburg einen Beschluss der EU-Kommission, wonach Irland eine rechtswidrige Beihilfe in Höhe von 13 Milliarden Euro gewährt habe. Exportverband kritisiert Grenzkontrollen und warnt vor Kosten und Verzögerungen
In der deutschen Wirtschaft stößt die geplante Ausweitung der Grenzkontrollen auf Kritik. "Einschränkungen der Personenfreizügigkeit, wie derzeit von der Bundesregierung angekündigt, bedeuten für die Wirtschaft und besonders für den Groß- und Außenhandel immer Verzögerungen und damit Kostensteigerungen", sagte der Präsident des Groß- und Außenhandelsverbands (BGA), Dirk Jandura, dem "Handelsblatt" vom Dienstag. "Sie stören die Logistik und bringen damit Lieferketten durcheinander."
Dämpfender Effekt bei Energieprodukten: Inflation im August bei 1,9 Prozent

In Australien sollen Heranwachsende Online-Netzwerke künftig erst ab einem Alter von 16 oder auch 14 Jahren nutzen dürfen. Ein entsprechendes Gesetz solle noch dieses Jahr ins Parlament eingebracht werden, teilte Premierminister Anthony Albanese am Dienstag mit. Der Labor-Politiker bezeichnete die Wirkung von Netzwerken wie Facebook oder Instagram auf Kinder als "Geißel". Das Mindestalter solle Kinder dazu bringen, ihre digitalen Geräte wegzulegen, sagte Albanese.

EU: Deutschland muss Millionenhilfen von Ryanair und Frankfurt-Hahn zurückfordern
Die EU-Kommission hat Deutschland angewiesen, rund 14 Millionen Euro an öffentlichen Hilfen von der Fluggesellschaft Ryanair und dem Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn zurückzufordern. Die Mittel seien nicht vereinbar mit EU-Beihilferegeln, erklärte die Kommission am Montag in Brüssel. Die Kommission beanstandet unter anderem, dass der Flughafen ohne Ausgleichszahlung ein Gelände von der rheinland-pfälzischen Landesregierung erhielt.

In den Niederlanden ist die erste Testfahrt auf der im März eröffneten Hyperloop-Strecke erfolgreich verlaufen. Am Montag glitt erstmals eine Kapsel magnetisch angetrieben durch die Stahlröhre - noch sehr langsam mit etwa 30 Kilometern pro Stunde und mit niemandem an Bord. Bis 2030 will das Unternehmen Hardt Hyperloop aber Menschen befördern, bis Ende dieses Jahres will es die Geschwindigkeit auf 100 Kilometer pro Stunde steigern.

Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft: Auch junge Menschen von Wohnungsnot bedroht
Wohnungsnot ist nach Angaben der Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Wohnungslosenhilfe (BAGW) auch bei jungen Menschen ein Problem. Rund 16 Prozent der Menschen, die sich 2022 in Wohnungsnotfällen an freie Einrichtungen wandten, waren unter 25 Jahre alt, wie die BAGW in Berlin am Montag mitteilte. Fast 13 Prozent der akut wohnungslosen jungen Erwachsenen zwischen 18 und 25 Jahren verbrachten demnach die Nacht vor ihrer Hilfesuche auf der Straße.
Experte: Aus der E-Auto-Prämie und Festhalten am Verbrenner wirft Industrie zurück
Die Auto-Experte Ferdinand Dudenhöffer macht das Aus der Umweltprämie beim Kauf von E-Autos im vergangenen Jahr in Deutschland sowie das Festhalten vieler Politiker am Verbrennermotor für die Schwäche der europäischen Autoindustrie verantwortlich. Der Aufsichtsrat der Deutschen Bahn soll einem Bericht der "Süddeutschen Zeitung" zufolge am 18. September über ein von Unternehmenschef Richard Lutz vorgelegtes neues Sanierungsprogramm beraten. Das intern inzwischen bereits verschickte Konzept trage den Titel S3 und setze unter anderem auf mehr Pendlerverbindungen oder sogenannte Sprinter, berichtete die Zeitung am Sonntag vorab. Eine technische Störung hat am Samstagnachmittag zu weiträumigen Zugausfällen in der Mitte Deutschlands geführt. Nach zwei Stunden konnte die Deutsche Bahn melden, dass der Fern- und Nahverkehr wieder anlaufe. Beeinträchtigungen bis zum Betriebsschluss seien allerdings weiter möglich. Der Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Main (RMV) sprach von einer "bundesweiten technischen Störung im Funkverkehr".

EPR-Atomreaktor im französischen Flamanville nach Abschaltung wieder angelaufen
Nach einer automatischen Abschaltung vor wenigen Tagen ist der EPR-Atomreaktor im französischen Flamanville am Samstag wieder angelaufen. Wie der Stromkonzern und Betreiber EDF mitteilte, lief der Reaktor von Flamanville 3 am Morgen mit 0,2 Prozent seiner Kapazität. Die Anlage soll langsam hochgefahren werden. Laut EDF wird nun der Anschluss an das Stromnetz bis Ende des Herbstes vorbereitet.

Es sei "unfassbar schäbig", dass ein Konzern wie Volkswagen, der erst im vergangenen Geschäftsjahr 4,5 Milliarden Euro an seine Aktionäre ausgeschüttet habe, nun behaupte, "er könne 5 Milliarden Euro nicht auftreiben, um Werksschließungen und Entlassungen zu verhindern", sagte Wissler der Düsseldorfer Zeitung "Rheinische Post" (Samstagsausgabe).
Arbeitslosenquote in den USA im August leicht zurückgegangen
Die Arbeitslosigkeit in den USA ist im August gegenüber dem Vormonat leicht zurückgegangen. Wie das Arbeitsministerium in Washington am Freitag mitteilte, wurden unter dem Strich 142.000 neue Stellen geschaffen, die Arbeitslosenquote sank damit im Vergleich zum Vormonat um 0,1 Prozentpunkte auf 4,2 Prozent.
Foodwatch kritisiert Danone für teilweisen Rückzug aus Nutri-Score
Die Verbraucherschutzorganisation Foodwatch hat die Entscheidung des Lebensmittelkonzerns Danone, Teile seines Sortiments nicht mehr mit dem Kennzeichnungssystem Nutri-Score zu versehen, kritisiert. Damit missachte der Konzern den Wunsch der Verbraucherinnen und Verbraucher "nach einer leicht verständlichen Nährwertkennzeichnung", erklärte die Organisation am Freitag. Damit sei das Prinzip Freiwilligkeit bei der Kennzeichnung "gescheitert" - der Nutri-Score müsse "endlich verpflichtend europaweit eingeführt werden".
